WHAT THE CLINTON COUNTY ASSOCIATE JUDGE DOES

The Clinton County Associate Circuit Court hears the following cases:

All probate matters (decedent estates, guardianship and conservatorship, and trust matters)

All Adult Abuse and Child Protection matters

Landlord/Tenant issues

Collections (debts owed) and other contract disputes

Small Claims (disputes up to $5,000)

All misdemeanor criminal and traffic matters, including municipal courts of Trimble, Gower and Cameron. and

All felony matters until after preliminary hearing.

The Clinton County Associate Court does NOT hear:

Civil matters where a monetary request if over $40,000.00.

Divorces (unless assigned by the Presiding Judge)

Juvenile matters (unless assigned by the Presiding Judge)

Felony criminal matters after the preliminary hearing. The Circuit Judges hear and sentence felony criminal matters

Name changes (unless assigned by the Presiding Judge)

Adoptions (unless assigned by the Presiding Judge)

Drug Court

What makes me qualified to hold this job? These types of cases demand more litigation and trial work experience than my opponent has at this point in her career. My years as the Associate Judge have only added to my previous experience in these areas of law. My varied background before being elected makes me uniquely qualified to continue to meet the demands of the Court and its ever-changing landscape. . My law experience consists of problem-solving, drafting, and litigating on issues from mental health and elder law, to Landlord/Tenant, to debtor's rights, to criminal law, to tax law, to contracts and beyond. All these are matters heard by your Associate Judge.

How active is the Associate Court? The Associate Court in Clinton County is busy. There are currently more than 300 open criminal matters NOT including municipal court matters. Up until today (August 12, 2026), there have been 440 associate civil cases filed in 2026. People have filed approximately 67 requests for Orders of protection in 2026. Last year there were over 115 of those requests made.
